17-year-old Recurve archer Lauryn, from Kilburn, is a pupil at Allestree Woodlands School. She has been selected onto the Archery GB Performance Academy Athlete programme.
Lauryn says: "I have already been on the GB Performance Academy for a year and have been re-selected for the 2016-17 season. I shoot for Derbyshire Archery club as well as for the county.
"Currently I am training most days at home and around three times a week with my club or coach. This is because I need to shoot over 550 arrows per week. A lot of spare time is also taken up doing strength and conditioning, which will build up my strength for the outdoor season next year.
"My goals for the next 12 months involve gaining selection scores for the selection shoots for international competitions, developing my technique so that I can perform consistently at my best and attending most stages of the national series around the UK. I also aim to rank highly in my new age group for 2017 where I will be a junior (18-21) rather than a cadet (under-18).
"In the future, I want to represent my country in archery and travel around the world to compete internationally whilst doing the sport that I love. In achieving this, I hope to inspire other people to try out the sport for themselves.
"My long term goal is to compete at the 2024 Olympics for my country."
