18-year-old sprinter Ella, from Chesterfield and District Athletic Club, competes in the 200m and 400m. She became England U20 indoor Champion in the 400m with a time of 55.81s. She won silver medals in the 400m at the England U20 Outdoor Championships, England Senior Outdoor Championships, English Schools Championships and the Manchester International.
Ella says: "As a young athlete coming from Chesterfield, I feel very proud and humble of my progress in sport so far. In 2013, I competed for England at 15 years old, which turned out to be a pivotal part of my development.
"Three years on, I have competed for England on notable occasions. The highlight was at the 2015 Youth Commonwealth Games where I finished 5th in the 200m. This year I evolved into becoming GB athlete competing at two home internationals.
"Moreover, this season has proven to be a great development year where I have moved from 200m to 400m. Although this seasons main objective was to learn the event, I was able to medal at all the major national championships, including winning the national indoor title and reaching the final of the 200m at the Rio Trials.
"It's been no coincidence that I have performed at a higher standard since be selected onto the Derbyshire Institute of Sport programme in 2013, and been in partnership with local sponsors such as ICON.
"Overall, since 2013, I have won 12 national and home international medals, with half being titles. For me, it's a huge achievement, that I can only credit to the support network I have in Derbyshire along with my old coach Daniel Dukes.
"The future holds fresh opportunities with exciting prospects that my new coach and I will face together. Currently, after a minor injury, I am slowly getting towards my aim of going to the 2017 European Championships, an aim that will hopefully materialize in the summer."
