Barclay is an 18-year-old triathlete from Derby who was selected to compete internationally in junior races based on his performances in National Super Series. He has won the Lidl Bananaman British triathlon Super Series event and is a member of the England Talent A squad.
Barclay says: "2016 has really been a breakthrough year. My final race of last year (2015) secured me a race start for European races early this year.
"In my first solo European race in Quarteira early this season, I finished 12th in the championships. I also finished 12th in Holten (Holland) in the European Triathlon in June. I'm looking to improve on these performances in 2017 with a winter of quality training.
"On home soil, my focus has been the British Triathlon Junior Super Series. At the Leeds Junior Aquathlon Championships, I came third, then with wins at Eton Dorney and Strathclyde Triathlons, I secured the national title of British Tiiathlon Junior Super Series Champion for 2016.
"I train with the East Midlands Regional Academy, the England Talent Squad and at the Loughborough Triathlon Performance Centre I am looking forward to my final season as a junior in 2017 and towards racing as a senior in 2018."
