Women and girls track cycling skills development sessions going from strength to strength
The latest in a series of women and girls track cycling skills development sessions will be held at Derby Arena on November 27, organised by Samways Events.
The Skills Session is aimed at those with at least one hour's experience of track cycling, and will include a briefing from British Cycling coaches and an hour's track time.
Previous sessions have proved extremely popular, with the last session on November 13 selling out.
Organiser Kate Samways said: "We started the sessions a year ago on the back of the Thisgirlcan campaign and it has been fantastic to see a community of women get together and support each other, many of whom probably never dreamt that they'd be able to ride on a velodrome.
"I am working with British Cycling and we regularly have 50 women and girls riding the track on a Sunday three-hour session. We cater for all track cyclists from complete beginners to those who are fully accredited and ride in the Derby Arena Track League.
"We want to encourage and give women the necessary knowledge to feel confident and empowered having achieved their goals on the track. These sessions are exhilarating, fun and fully inclusive."
The session costs £20 to attend, with a 10% discount available for members of Samways Cycling Club and British Cycling. Costs include the hire of bikes, shoes and helmets.
