The 15-year-old sailor, from Lea and a student at Highfields School, is a member of Carsington Sailing Club and is part of the RYA Topper National Intermediate Squad.
Thomas says: "I am a single handed dinghy sailor making the transition from a Topper dinghy to a Laser Radial dinghy this year.
"I have recently begun training with the RYA Transition Squad, which means travelling to various sailing venues around the country. Venues are on the sea such as WPNSA as well as on inland waters such as Rutland, but I will aslo be training at my home club Carsingtin Water.
"Laser sailing requires a high level of fitness and I will be working hard to reach my personal fitness targets, set in October and to be reviewed in early 2016.
"I am aiming to improve my results in the three European and World Championship Qualifying events which will take place in March 2016 so that I finish in the top half. I would also like to do well against the other Under-17s at the Youth Nationals in April.
"I will also be competing in some local events such as the DYS and would like to beat my older brother, who won the series in 2015.
"My ambition for the next couple of years is to be selected for the Laser Youth Squad and to qualify to represent Great Britain at the Youth Europeans and World Championships."
