There is other funding available to support talented athletes in Derbyshire.
Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS) provides athletes with a tailored package of services such as coaching, strength and conditioning, lifestyle support, physiotherapy and sports medicine as well as support with competition and training expenses.
TASS liaises with over 50 National Governing Bodies of sport to support potential stars of the future, and applicants must be nominated by their sport’s NGB. Each sport sets its own criteria.
SportsAid focuses on giving grants to youngsters aged 12 to 18, from 50 able-bodied and 25 disability sports.
These athletes compete in national squads and the grants, generally worth £500, help with costs such as travel, training, accommodation, competition fees and equipment.
Applicants must be identified and nominated by their National Governing Bodies of Sport, based on their talent and sporting results.
Supports young track and field athletes who are in education and may need financial help towards training or equipment.
Applicants must be aged between 15 and 23 years, medalists from their National Schools AA, AAA U17, & U20 or U23 Championships or in the top six of the appropriate UK ranking lists.
The grant application process starts each year on 1 October with completed forms to be returned by November 30.
