Zach Walker - Gymnastics
I am an elite gynmnast and have competed for great britian 5 times, and am in the British Gymnastic squad which is where the national coach picks the top 20 gymasts in my age group.
I have competed in many competitions and have 7 gold medals from competing in the British Championships and I hope to add to that total.
I train 30 hours a week at Notts School of Gymnastics in Rushcliffe - in the morning before school for 1hour and 45 minutes and then after school for 3 and a half hours. I started gymnastics at the age of 5 and was able to do full splits.
The apparatus I train on is the parrell bars, high bar, rings, pommell, vault and floor. My favourite is the parralell bars and in 2007 I went to Italy to compete for Great Britain and won the gold medal for my perfomance on this apparatus which was against competitors much older than myself - aged 16 (bronze medal) and 18 (silver medal).
At the moment I am not competing as I have a back injury, but as soon as this is healed, and I am able to do full training, it will be all systems go.
As a result of winning the gold medal at the British Championships in 2007, I was chosen to represent my age group at the International Camp at Turinia in Italy. The training at the camp was very different and I loved the opportunity to meet and train with other gymnasts from around the world. I keep in touch with some of them and we meet at International competitons.
