Sarah Smith - European Indoor Archery Championships

At the start of March this year, I flew out with the GB archery team to Turin, Italy for the European Indoor Archery Championships. This was my fifth international so far, so wasn’t that nervous really and I already knew the standard that I would need to achieve.

There were over 300 people there coaches and archers included, and we were shooting in the Oval Lingotto which was used for the 2006 Winter Olympics.

Overall my performance was average, I finished 17th out of the other 34 under 18 junior girls I was shooting against, but I was pleased with my shooting.

Also I shot a team round with the two other GB junior girl archers who flew out with me. The team round is completely different as is more time restricted, giving us four minutes to shoot six arrows between us, but it was still really good as we don’t usually shoot these rounds in England.

As the competition lasted over three days it was quite tiring, but still it was a great experience. Now I’m getting ready for The World Grand Prix in Turkey which is in the end of May, which I’ll be flying out with the senior team this time.
