Ricky Blampied - Regional Competition Jersey
On March 8th and 9th I went over to Jersey for one of the biggest Special Olympics artistic competitions this year. There was over 140 gymnasts from 12 different southern regions competing in levels 1-3.
I went with my club Leicester Leys with 10 other gymnasts, I competed in level 3. I had to do 6 pieces: floor, vault, rings, pommel, high bar and parallel bars,and then the all round event. My favourite pieces are the rings and high bar. I felt very nervous on the floor routine which lost me marks. I was pleased with my scores because they had improved since the last competition which was the world games.
The competion started on Saturday at 8.30 with the opening ceromony where we march on in our teams, and the competition finished at 4pm.
We also have social time to meet gymnasts from differnt regions we all stayed in the same hotel called the Metropole. On the sunday it was the same started at 8.30 and finished at 4pm, we were all tired but had a brilliant weekend.
I got 1 gold, 2 bronze and 3 silvers which made me very proud because the competitions get harder and I was competing against some good gymnasts which makes it more of a challenge. My scores are below:
