Kelly Gough - PUMA Welsh Championships

Since my last blog, I have been training twice a week and also attending additional training called ‘Squad Training’ at Yate every few weeks. This is where you can train with the England Squad and get chosen for extra competitions. When you are there the atmosphere is great. Even though it’s a really hard two hours of tough training, everybody is friendly and cheers everyone along. The training consists of a half an hour warm up, then some pad work, (when you practice with a partner using pads) some pattern work and sparring. Its very hard work. My stamina has definitely improved with this training. I have been taking part in Squad Training for approximately 3 years.

I used to do my twice weekly training in a hall at a local school because Alfreton Leisure Centre was being renovated. We have now moved back into the Leisure Centre since its been finished and my training has greatly improved because of the facilities available. It’s an outstanding rebuild.

I have most recently been to Cardiff on the 7/6/08 to compete in the P.U.M.A Welsh championships. I won a gold and a silver trophy. The whole day was amazing. You can also compete and meet people from all around the UK. The standard of TaeKwon Do on that day was incredible from everybody, even if it was his or her first competition. I really enjoyed what the day brought.
