Jack Griffiths - Martial Arts
Hi all well this will be my 2nd to last blog for this year. All the major competitions which I am eligible to compete in have now gone bar one.
I competed in Seni 08 at the Excel Centre in London and got a first place in the open hand musical forms.
I then went to Sheffield Ponds Forge on 24/05/08 and came away with third place after falling.
I was really disappointed as this was classed as my home competition but I was so eager to perform in front of my own crowd I put a trick into my form which I had not really practised enough. The result being I stumbled when I landed a side somersault which is a two legged side somersault.
But the good news is I have now been ranked number 1 in the 12 and under category in the UK. If I had been old enough (10) then I would be off to Italy in November to compete in the World championships.
This all stands me in good stead for February next year when my martial arts competitions really get under way.
I will be eligible to compete for Great Britain and compete in the European championships which are held towards the end of the year.
I have taken up a weapon now and am hoping to compete in the Bo staff categories as well as my open hand.
I will be competing in Scotland in September hoping to retain my Scottish fighting and forms titles.
I really do enjoy martial arts and am so proud to say I know both the martial arts lads who were in the final of Britain’s Got Talent. These individuals who do basically what I do will really promote martial arts.
I used to think it was all about constantly doing the same routines, kicks and punches over and over again in lines, but as you can see by this programme there is so much more fun to be had.
I will continue to keep you updated and hope to bring you good news of Scotland and my progress next year.
Bye for now, Jack Griffiths
