The DIS receives support from local organisations that assists learning for coaches and their athletes.
Leaving less to chance
The Derbyshire Institute of Sport has been put in place to leave less to chance and to develop a conveyor belt of success in those sports which have a strong base in Derbyshire.
Helping this happen are, three principal funding partners - Derby City Council, Derbyshire County Council, University of Derby - who each have their own exciting plans for the development of sport and recreation.
Together, they have committed around £750,000 to DIS and agreed to work to develop performance sport, as part of a wider commitment to the Plan for Sport and Active Recreation in Derbyshire 2012-2015
