Sportsman of the Year

Adam Peaty's award was collected by City of Derby Swimming Club.

City of Derby Swimming Club's Adam Peaty won the Sportsman of the Year Award for the third year running.

He was honoured in 2016 after picking up Great Britain's first gold medal of the Rio Olympics by winning the 100m breaststroke in emphatic style with a new world record.

The former ICON bursary programme athlete also picked up a silver medal in the 4x100m medley relay at the Games, where Great Britain were narrowly pipped for top spot by a Michael Phelps-inspired Team USA.

Peaty's run of success at the awards first began in 2014 following a phenomenal Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

He fought off competition from South Derbyshire's Paralympic bronze medal-winning swimmer Lewis White, 16, and Chesterfield table tennis player Liam Pitchford, who also competed out in Rio
