Top Class Table Tennis Demo
On Saturday the Littleover TTC staged a top class table tennis demonstration at Littleover Community School for boys and girls from local junior schools. Two players over from Sweden for a short break gave an exhibition of their skills before spending some time coaching the young players. Swedish international Henrik Rosvall had the crowd on his side as a defender as Australian No1 William Henzell, an all out attacker kept him at the back of the court retrieving seemingly impossible shots. Players from the audience were invited to knock up with both players and Adam Wilson (St Peters) was amazed at how Henrik could make the ball twist and turn.
Coaches from the club have just completed 6 week sessions in 4 schools and after the exhibition the schools played in a mini competition split into 2 parts- between Dale and St Peters who have table tennis tables in their schools and between Brookfields and Wren Park who play on tables that they have just had their lunch on. The final results were close calls with St Peters just pipping Dale and Brookfields edging out Wren Park. All the boys and girls went home with a medal to mark the day.
