Success for Derby Girls

Emily O'Sullivan (Littleover Community School) played in the Bath Senior Grand Prix and reached the final of the Women's Banded event losing to Diane Melville from Middlesex. Playing in differing types of competition can only be good for her progress up the junior ranking lists. She will be part of the County squad at the Regional ranking trials this coming weekend at Worksop. Also at Worksop will be Kathryn Arrowsmith (Long Eaton School) who was playing in another East Midlands tournament at Grantham on Saturday. Kathryn lost in the final of the junior girls singles to Holly Stubbings from Essex. Scotland were well represented at this event with a party of 22 coming down from Dumfries.

Abbie Milwain (Chellaston Junior) had another very good day. She started the day well and was runner up to Emma Tovey from Kent at Under 11. Playing out of her age group she lost to Melissa Wright (Lincoln) in the first round at Under 15 and but did better at Under 13 where she lost in the semi final again to Emma Tovey.

Next Sunday is the closing date for entries for the next Derby Schools tournament on 28th November. This standard of tournament is the preparation ground for boys and girls interested in moving up to regional and national competition.
