September Schools Table Tennis Tournament

Over 40 boys and girls put in 5 hours of table tennis for the first Derby schools tournament of the season held at Littleover Community School on Sunday. 
 
In the girl's event Sophie Whitaker (Highfields at Matlock) took home the Under 16 and Under 19 trophies.  Abbie Milwain (Chellaston Junior) did the same for the Under 11 and 13 events.  There were some firsts in the Undr 11 events.  Christina Roome (Alvaston Junior) played in her first tournament and took home the runners up medal.  Another first was the appearance of Calum Kinsella (Lea Junior) who reached the semifinal of the Under 11 mixed event.  Calum is the son of Martin Kinsella the former Irish international player still remembered for his ability to play with a chair and frying pan. 
 
Luke Milwain Chellaston Senior) continued the families winning ways by beating Curtis Watson (West Park) at Under 16 and Sieben Li (Woodlands ) in the Under 19 finals.

The next tournament is on Saturday 16th October with entry forms from coaches sports teachers or the Derby Association website.
