Regional Trials

Derby League boys and girls were in action this weekend in the purpose built table tennis centre at Redlands School, Worksop. They were competing in the East Midland Region trials against the top players from the 5 counties of the region. Being in the top 5 in each age group ensures that players can take part in the National Masters competition at Crystal Palace in April.

Emma Vickers (West Park) qualified automatically by virtue of her position in the England ranking at Cadet level but she also qualified in these play offs for a place in the junior squad. Joining her at junior level are Kathryn Arrowsmith (Long Eaton Community) and Emily O'Sullivan (Littleover Community).

Mark Naylor (Ilkeston School) is in the cadet squad and Adam Frost Kirk Hallam CTC) won the junior boys pool for his place. David Arrowsmith (Long Eaton Community ) and Tim Mitchell (QE Grammar Ashbourne) narrowly lost out in the placing.

This Sunday is another Derby Schools tournament at Littleover Community School starting at 1pm. Spectators are welcome to come along and see the next generation of tournament and league players.
