February Schools Tournament Results

There was a good turnout for the last Derby Schools Tournament of the season.  The sports hall used by the Littleover Club for these events is being taken out of use at Littleover Community School for the rest of the season whilst the sports facilities are being upgraded.  In parallel witht the normal events there was a starters event at Under 11 for complete newcomers to competition.  8 boys and 6 girls from junior schools that feed into the Community School took part.  None of them had had more than 6 weeks coaching but that was no barrier to them as they played first in groups and then thro 2 rounds to a final.  The winners were Milly Hodson (Wren Park)who beat Kierenjeet Kaur (Dale) in 4 games and Joshua Runcorn (Wren Park) who took 5 games to beat Tom Harrison (Wren Park).

As the last final was being set up the hall lights went out and so James Ward and Abbie Milwain had to play their Under 13 final later in the week.  Abbie took a 2 game lead but James pulled this back to win in the fifth.
