Derbyshire's Ashley Davies wins U13 Irish Junior Open
Ashley Davies has won the under 13 Irish Junior Open at the Westwood Squash Club, in Lepardstown, Dublin from ¾ Seed, without dropping a single game.
In the 1st Rnd match he beat South African No 1 and 9/16 Seed, Luke Willemse, 3-0, 9-7, 9-6, 9-2.
2nd Rnd match he beat the Czech 5/8 Seed, and No 34 in Europe, Jan Fiala, 3-0, 9-0,9-0, 9-0.
In his Semi-Final match he beat the Irish No 2 Seed, and current No 6 in Europe, Michael Craig, from Ulster, 3-0,9-5, 9-1, 9-1.
In the final he beat Matt Bedwell, the 9/16 Seed, from Wycliffe College in Gloucester, 3-0, 9-0, 9-0, 9-0, to take the under 13 title on his first and last attempt, as next year he will move up to under 15 age group.
