Community Sports Coach bid for Derby
To further strengthen the city’s cycling presence, a bid is being made to Sport England’s Community Sport Coach Scheme for a Community Cycling Coach to develop cycling across the city. The Community Sports Coach Scheme has been developed in response to a report of the Government’s Coaching Task Force, which highlighted inadequacies in the sports coaching infrastructure across England .
The overall objective of the scheme is to establish a network of paid professional coaches working at a local level to increase the number of high quality coaching opportunities according to strategic and local need.
This project is a great example of partnership working between the Council’s Sports Development Unit, British Cycling, School Sport Partnership Managers, Youth Service, Connexions, Sustrans, Derby Mercury Cycling Club, Sporting Futures, the Road Safety Team, representatives from Leesbrook, Sinfin and Derby Moor Community Schools and the County Sports Partnership.
