British Cycling Launches Level 1 Coaching Course
British Cycling is pleased to announce the launch of its new Level 1 Coaching Course following a successful piloting period. The entry-level course is aimed at people that have little experience of coaching or cycling; such as parents, scout/guide leaders and teaching assistants.
Lee Rylands, Coach Education Officer, said, ‘the Level 1 course is an important component of the Coach Education programme. At every cycling event or coaching session there are parents and spectators looking to get more involved in cycling, we now have a coaching qualification specifically for them. Perhaps more significant is that the qualification is also aimed at people outside the cycling world and, as a result, could be the most successful cycling coaching course.’
Another new course, Activity Coach Award For Teachers, has also proven to be a success; in the last five months since the course was launched 103 teachers have attended the course.
