Encouraging 11 to 25-year-olds to get active

Sportivate offers funding for organisations to set up projects aimed at encouraging more 11 to 25-year-olds who aren't doing sport in their own time to become more active and involved in sport.

Funding is available for activities that are six to eight weeks in length where the target is to get participants to attend (complete) five out of six, six out of seven or seven out of eight of the sessions.

Year 6 (2016/17) Application Process

Derbyshire Sport invites applications from organisations wishing to deliver new sport or physical activity sessions aimed at inactive young people aged 11 -25 years old.

Sportivate funding is allocated via two rounds per year.

Round 1 - Applications are collated by each local District and your contact can be found in the download section at the bottom of the page. Local District panels then review the applications to ensure that the projects fit the strategic priorities of their area. Finally, projects are then reviewed at a County panel for ratification before being submitted to Sport England for Final approval.

Round 2 - Applications are collated directly by Derbyshire Sport. A County Panel review applications before being submitted to Sport England for Final approval.

  • NEETS (Not in Education, Employment or Training)

*Those young people who, when registering for Sportivate, state that they aren't yet doing once a week participation in sport.

Sportivate Innovation Fund

The innovation fund is an additional pot of funding aimed at delivering 'cutting-edge' projects that result in long term participation by young people. Projects might target a hard-to-reach group, be larger, smaller, expensive or meet wider objectives alongside those of Sportivate.

The application process will be competitive and will reward the most forward thinking, innovative organisations.

Providers are encouraged to use the youth insights pack before developing an innovation fund projects which should focus on innovative ways to reach young people.
