South Derbyshire Sport - General Information
What Is It?
The South Derbyshire Sports and Recreation Forum (South Derbyshire Sport) represents the interests of sport in the District.
Who Is Involved?
The Forum is made up of individuals, clubs and organisations that take part in or have an
interest in sport. The help of some of the District?s sportspeople has already been enlisted.
Dave Fern - Honorary Secretary of Lullington Park Cricket Club has agreed to be Chair.
Ron Lane- Chair of the South Derbyshire Road Runners is to be Vice-Chair.
Hannah Barradell-Smith - Sport & Youth Development Manager for South Derbyshire is supporting and advising the group.
What Are Its Aims?
It has been set up to develop a strong voice for sport in South Derbyshire. This should help secure better facilities and more opportunities and as a result improve standards in sport across the District.
The Forum members have set the following objectives:
To represent South Derbyshire sport at district and county level.
To lobby for increased resources from the public and private sectors.
To share good practice and information between sports clubs.
To support the recruitment and training of coaches and sports leaders.
To attract funding from external sources to develop sport.
To organise events and training to promote local sport.
To raise awareness of member clubs so that more people get involved.

A series of South Derbyshire Sport meetings at venues around the District has been arranged. They are designed to enable people to find out more about the Forum and to work together on organising training, making bids for money and generally working together to improve sports facilities and opportunities in South Derbyshire. Everyone with an interest in sport in the district will be welcome to come along. If you cant get there but would be interested in receiving the minutes of the meetings request them by emailing
