Sandiacre Friesland Sports Centre Re-opens
Major improvements to enhance facilities at Sandiacre Friesland Sports Centre this summer have now been completed and the Centre has opened its doors again.
The Centre, based on Nursery Avenue in Sandiacre, closed its doors on 27th June this year to carry out work that, due to its disruptive nature, meant the Centre was forced to close for a ten week period.
The refurbishment has helped Sandiacre Friesland meet with new Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) requirements. The £200,000 development has provided the Centre with a brand new reception area and platform lift, both of which will greatly improve access for all users. Other improvements included automatic entry doors, improved changing facilities and extensive redecoration throughout the Centre.
A new express gym has been installed on the 1st floor which is ideal for children from 11 years old and will be used for special exercise sessions, such as the GP recommendation scheme.
This has been the second phase of improvements made to the Sandiacre Friesland site in the past year. Phase One came as part of the Junction 25 project, which saw £150,000 spent on developing improved parking and customer security. This work was completed in March 2006.
