Ilkeston runners turn out for Sport Relief

More than 200 people did their bit for Sport Relief on March 16, when Ilkeston's Rutland Sports Park hosted its second Sport Relief event.

After the success of 2006, runners again turnd out in force, with more than 90 juniors and 120 adults taking part.

Around 200 spectators also joined the event to cheer participants on.

Joining them was Jeff Everitt, who offerered his skills for charity. The qualified Sports Therapist offered leg massages for a small donation to Sport Relief, and also helped out on the day with registering milers.

The event itself was much fun, and had a great atmosphere with lots of support from the spectators. People of all ages and abilities took part, completing either one, three or a whopping six miles. The highlight was a giant Teddy bear and a very keen motorcyclist completing the event in full leathers, which was impressive!!

Organisers hope to hold the event again, making the next even bigger and better.
