Erewash Mobile Skatepark Facility

An exciting new mobile skateboard and BMX unit is coming to Erewash . . . giving youngsters the chance to have some fun on thrilling ramps, rails and jumps! Erewash Borough Council has secured a £35,000 cashpot to buy the new touring unit and give young people the opportunity to try the extreme sports of skateboarding, BMX and rollerblading. The unit will go to towns and rural locations across the borough and its jumps and ramps can be used to create a variety of combinations to encourage beginners as well as stretch the skills of experienced ‘riders’.

The Council’s Culture and Leisure Services team will manage the mobile facility, which will go to community ‘hotspots’ – areas where groups of young people are known to gather. It will also go ‘on tour’ to rural areas, be used to provide holiday activities for children throughout the year and can be hired out to other organisations.

Erewash Borough Council has secured money for the unit through its own capital programme and from Erewash Community Safety Partnership and Derbyshire Constabulary.

Parish Councils will be able to hire out the unit along with other groups or organisations and anyone interested in having the facility visit their area should contact Roland Harrison at Erewash Borough Council on 0845 9072244 or email roland.harrison@erewash.gov.uk
