Cotmanhay Multi-Sport Coach
Through a successful bid to the Cotmanhay Neighbourhood Management Group and Community Investment Fund, Erewash Borough Council has employed a new Community Multi-Sport Coach (John Bennett) to develop and deliver new sporting and volunteering opportunities in Cotmanhay, Ilkeston. The new coach will be based at the Enterprise Centre in Cotmanhay and work with a variety of partners within the area to get more people active and supporting sport.
Since joing the team at the end of July 2007, John has established partnerships with local clubs and schools, worked with Groundwork Derby and Derbyshire and delivering sporting activities at the youth drop-in and started Sports Leadership courses with Sporting Futures. Presently, John is working to establish a new apprenticeship scheme that will progress volunteers through to paid employment and increase sporting opportunities in Cotmnahay.
