Health Walks - In addition to the GP referral programme, health walks are provided through the summer and winter periods. The scheme was initially introduced in the summer of 2003, by Derbyshire Dales District Council’s Environmental Health Department, with support from Sports Development, Bakewell Swimming Pool and North Derbyshire Health Promotions who all work in unison to ensure its provision.The walks take place once a week and can be provided for all ages and abilities. Junior Outreach Gym Project - This scheme was introduced in May 2003 and created by a partnership of North Derbyshire Health Promotion Service, Lady Manners School and Bakewell Swimming Pool. The scheme is a vehicle, which provides opportunities for local school children to interact outside the school environment and understand the benefits of physical activity. Quest - The UK Quality Scheme for Sport and Leisure, has been developed to help sport and leisure facility managers improve the quality of services they offer to their customers. It provides the opportunity to build on similar initiatives and deliver a quality scheme tailored to the needs of the sport and leisure industry.
The four key areas of the Quest assessment include: Facility Operation, Customer Relations, Staffing and Service Development and Review.
Bakewell Swimming Pool has at present (summer 2004) undergone two full assessments. In September 2001 the facility achieved 68% and again in December 2003 it was awarded a score of 71%, placing the facility within the top 15% of the UK.
