Chesterfield rises to Sport Relief challenge

Chesterfield Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile raised thousands of pounds as 520 entrants ran one, three or six miles through the town's Queen's Park on Sunday, March 16.

All the entrants paid £5 to enter, most were sponsored and donations on the day added still more to the coffers of Sport Relief, which has raised over £50m since its launch in 2002 to help vulnerable people in the UK and across the world’s poorest countries.

The Chesterfield event was one of more than 200 taking place across the UK at the same time.Serious athletes mingled with fun runners in Queen's Park, where one entrant went round the track in a child's scooter, some wore fancy dress and one even walked the course backwards!
