Chesterfield and NE Derbyshire Sports Club Forum
28th November 2005, 6-9pm at the Winding Wheel.
Over the last year the structure of Sports Development and School Sport within Derbyshire has changed with aims towards increasing participation, improving levels of performance and promoting the value of sport to improve the quality of life for the people of Derbyshire. The new changes have seen the County Sport Partnership, now named Derbyshire Sport, developing a County Sports Plan, appointing a new partnership director in David Joy and creating a new structure of roles within the partnership to be filled in the New Year. School Sport Partnerships have also been formed in Chesterfield and North East Derbyshire, with the introduction of Partnership Development Managers. Barbara Wragg, is the PDM for Chesterfield and Karen Shopland is the newly appointed PDM for North East Derbyshire. Their role is to increase after school hour’s participation and to increase the development of school links with local sports clubs. The new developments within the local area will create many opportunities for local clubs and a system needs to be set in place so that vital information can be passed onto the local sport clubs. This has led for the need to re-establish a Sports Club forum to cover both Chesterfield and North East Derbyshire. The aim of the forum is to provide local clubs with relevant information on local issues, sports initiatives, school-club links, training needs, funding opportunities and to enhance partnership working between Clubs, Education and Local Authorities. To receive an invite for the forum, or for further information, please phone the sports development unit on 01246 345569.
