Shipley Hall CC into Semi-finals of Npower National Village Competition

Amber Valley Cricket Club Shipley Hall have reached the Semi-Final stage of the Npower National Village knock-out competition after beating Stockport team Compstall CC on Sunday 30th July. Shipley are now just one game away from the Final, which will be held at Lords on Sunday 3rd September.

A crowd of around 500 people attended the game at Shipley's picteresque 'Field' ground to see the home side victorious by 4 wickets, with just two balls to spare. The outstanding performances for Shipley came from bowler John Buckley who took 5/39 from his 9 overs and Captain James Cockayne who led by example in an excellent innnings of 58.

Shipley are fortunate to have another home tie in the Semi-finals where they will face Yorkshire outfit Houghton Main (near Barnsley) on Sunday 13th August, with a 2pm start. Club Chairman Peter Young expects another large crowd to support the team, with the Club laying on refreshement facilitires in the shape of Bar and BBQ.

Result - Shipley Hall 159-6 (39.4 overs) beat Compstall 158-9 (40 overs) by 4 wickets.
