Council helps to co-ordinate national sporting event

A member of the Council’s Sports Development team is to act as a co-ordinator at the 2004 Partially-Sighted World Football Championships.

Twelve five-a-side teams will compete in the event, which is taking place in Manchester later this month.

Stuart Clarke, from the Council’s Sports Development team said: “I am honoured to be a part of this exciting and highly prestigious event and feel that there are huge benefits to be gained from the experience. I see this as a great training opportunity and intend to pass on the knowledge and skills that I gain to the rest of the team”.

Jon Dutton, director of the Championships and Chief Executive of Manchester Football Association : “The Championships, which are in their third year, should act as a catalyst for the future growth and development of disability sport.”
