Coppice Primary School are Kwik Cricket Champions

A total of 21 primary schools from across Amber Valley were involved in the recent annual year 5 & 6 Kwik Cricket competitions. The competitions were organised by Amber Valley Borough Council’s Sports Development team with help and support from five local cricket clubs. Seven schools secured a place in the finals, which took place at Denby Cricket Club on 5th June 2008.

Curzon CE Primary, Coppice Primary, Somerlea Park Junior School, Richardson Endowed Primary School, Christ the King RC Primary School, Street Lane Primary School and Swanwick Primary School were all involved in the finals.

In a close final game Coppice Primary beat Curzon CE by 5 runs to lift the trophy. Coppice will now represent Amber Valley in the county final, which will be taking place at Denby Cricket Club on Friday 20th June.

Sarah Bingham, Club, Coach & Volunteer Development Officer said: "All the teams that participated should be proud of their performances. The standard was high and a few of the games were only won by a few runs.

"I would like to thank all the cricket clubs that supported with the competitions and who provided scorers and umpires."
