Sophie is a 14-year-old swimmer with the City of Derby Swimming Club who has been selected on the England Programme/ASA Region Beacon Programme for the East Midlands. She won silvers in the 50m butterfly at the British Summer National Championships and in the 100m butterfly at the ASA Summer Championships.
Sophie says: "At the moment I swim for the City of Derby Swimming club in their national squad, which means we aim to represent the club at the British and ASA summer National Championships.
"I have managed to achieve this goal for the last two seasons and so my aim for this season is to compete at more events and at longer distances for the summer and winter championships.
"I set a 13-year-old long course British record for the 50m butterfly at Edinburgh during the last season and I would love to set a 14-year-old lomg course record this season, although a short course junior record would be a bigger achievement as this is for 16 yrs and under.
"I am currently seen as a good sprinter at 50m events and so for this season I am aiming to build up my strength and stamina through my training to improve my 100m and 200m swims.
"In the longer term, I am targeting making the junior English or British team to compete abroad and hope to be selected for the Junior European championships in 2017.
"My final goal in swimming is to compete for the senior Great Britain team at a Commonwealth Games, European Championships or Olympic Games and bring back medals to the United Kingdom."
