The 18-year-old badminton player, from Mickleover, is on the Derbyshire Institute of Sport programme and a member of the England Performance training and Derbyshire Performance Centre squads.
Sophie says: "I currently live in Sheffield while doing a Sport and Exercise Science degree at Sheffield Hallam University.
"I am training five times a week with the university squad, including both on-court sessions and Strength & Conditioning.
"I play for the Derbyshire senior county team as well as one of the top Yorkshire league teams on a regular basis.
"My sporting goals for the upcoming season is to get to a medal position at a senior silver tournament in singles and mixed.
"I would also like to get into the semi-finals of the British University and College Sport (BUCS) individual badminton tournament. Due to being part of the university's Performance Athlete squad, I feel like these are realistic targets.
"In the long-term, my sporting ambition is to compete in international senior tournaments on a regular basis and one day win a gold medal."
