Roscoe Martin

Roscoe Martin.

15-year-old sailor Roscoe, from Alfreton is a member of the RS Tera Pro National Squad. He represented Great Britain in the RS Tera World Championships and won silver overall. He also won silver in the RS Tera National Championships. He is a member of Ogston Sailing Club.

Roscoe says: "Most of my current training is based at Ogston Sailing Club, where I sail with my crew almost every weekend, practising drills and also joining in the club racing.

"I am waiting to hear the outcome of a selection decision and am hopeful of a place on the RS200 Northern Youth Squad. If successful, a place on this squad will give me access to five training weekends over the winter alongside other talented youth sailors, where we will be coached by high level national coaches.

"The ICON funding will help me with the cost of these training events, and also the competition season in 2017.

"My goals for the next 12 months are to come in the top 15 at the RS200 National Championships to be held in Tenby in August 2017, finish in the top 10 at the RS200 Inland Championships (venue to be confirmed) and get on the podium at the RS200 Youth Championships.

My sporting ambitions are to compete at a world class level in different classes of boats throughout my career, win a World Championship and sail all the way around the world."
