The Derbyshire School Sports Association has supported the county rounders events for 2009-10, and this has seen the introduction of U12 and U14 age groups in addition to U13 and U15.
The U12 competition was held at Tupton Hall School, and was won by the team from Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School which finished with 24 points – two points clear of second place Lady Manners School.
The U14 tournament was also staged at Tupton Hall School, and saw a reverse of fortunes for Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School and Lady Manners School, with Lady Manners taking first place and QEGs finishing in second.
Meanwhile Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School played host to the U13 event, and this was won by Anthony Gell School who finished with 31 points, ahead of second place Chellaston School.
Every competition this year has had at least eight schools taking part. Full results are below.
Competition manager Jo Barnett said: “It’s been fantastic to run county rounders this year as last year because of the weather we had to cancel all but one event. It’s great to have so many schools interested in playing at a county level, with a good standard of rounders being played with some close results.
“I would like to thank both Tupton and Queen Elizabeths for hosting and organising the events and they have already agreed to do the same next year, and I would like to thank and congratulate all the schools that took part.”
All 2010-2011 county dates will be included on the competition calendar, which will be sent out to all schools.
