Derbyshire Disabled Cricket Club coach Paul Roe has received the Unsung Sporting Hero Award at this year's Community Champions Awards.
The awards, run jointly by the Derby Telegraph, BBC Radio Derby, Derbyshire Building Society, Derby City Council and Derby County Football Club, recognise local people who go out of their way to help others.
Paul won the Unsung Sporting Hero category for his work with Derbyshire Disabled Cricket Club, which has helped it grow to a club with 24 players, 12 volunteer coaches and its own committee.
Paul decided to set up the cricket club for people with physical and learning disabilities after playing a disabled team from Nottinghamshire with Darley Abbey Cricket Club and realising there was no disabled team in Derbyshire.
Volunteer Paul was presented with his trophy and certificate from Derby County and Scotland midfield legend Archie Gemmill during a ceremony at Pride Park Stadium.
