Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Miles will be staged in all nine district and boroughs of Derbyshire, including Derby City, making Derbyshire one of only three counties in the country to host at least one event in each of its districts.
Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile events will be held at:
Sharley Park Leisure Centre, Clay Cross
Queen's Park, Chesterfield
Rutland Sports Park, Ilkeston
Pavillion Gardens, Buxton
Swadlincote Woodlands
Ashbourne Recreation Ground
Shipley Country Park, Heanor
Moorways Sports Complex, Derby
Creswell Crags, Bolsover
Bishop Pursglove Primary School, Tideswell
Manor Park, Glossop
Entries are now being accepted for each of the events, and online registration can be done at www.sportrelief.com (opens in a new window)
Jog Derbyshire is also encouraging anyone who signs up to a Sport Relief Mile to train for the event by joining one of the many beginners jogging groups which are held around the county.
Tom Crampton, Jog Derbyshire Co-ordinator, said: “We now have more than 40 jogging groups meeting every week across Derbyshire, so wherever you live and whatever Sport Relief Mile event you will be taking part in there is bound to be a group near you.
“The Sport Relief Mile is a great mass participation event and joining a Jog Derbyshire group is a great way to prepare for the event with the added encouragement from a trained jog leader and other group members.
“Once you have completed your event Jog Derbyshire can also help you if you want to continue jogging and build up your distance or improve on your time.”
