Burton and District Schools Football Association to host junior international U18 match

Burton and District Schools Football Association, made up of schools in Burton and South Derbyshire, is to host a junior international U18 football match between England and Ireland.

England U18 will face Republic of Ireland U18 at the Pirelli Stadium, home of Burton Albion Football Club, on Friday, 30 April.

The match will be the final game in the 2010 Centenary Shield and will be shown live on Sky TV.

A team of South Derbyshire schoolgirls will also get the chance to showcase their football skills on the evening, playing against an East Staffordshire side on the pitch at half time.

The U11 girls squad will be selected during trials at The Pingle School in Swadlincote next month.

Organisers are hoping to attract a substantial crowd of supporters from local schools and sports clubs for the junior international match, and tickets are now on sale.

Tickets are priced at £5 for adults (seated) and £3 standing, with concessions £3 (seated) and £1 standing. Tickets can be ordered from stapenhill@sky.com.

Gates will open at 6pm and pre-match entertainment will begin at 6.30pm. Kick-off will be at 7.40pm.
