Miles Curtis will act as the school’s International Inspiration Ambassador, and will join a representative from Kushtia Government High School for Girls in Bangladesh – Anthony Gell’s partner school in the programme – at the UK School Games next month.
International Inspiration is London 2012’s official international sports legacy programme, and aims to deliver on the promise made by the London 2012 bid team to ‘reach young people all around the world and connect them to the inspirational power of the Games so they are inspired to choose sport’.
Janice Price, Partnership Development Manager for Rural Derbyshire, and Anthony Gell School Deputy Headteacher Helen Jackson travelled to Bangladesh to set up links with their partner school and train teachers in leadership.
Representatives from Kushtia Government High School for Girls have also visited Anthony Gell School.
The UK School Games will be held in the North East, at venues in Gateshead, Newcastle and Sunderland, from September 2 to 5.
