The club has used the money to buy a new cover for the square, which will mean better protection for the pitches and less likelihood of rain-affected games.

Donations were received by The Loughborough Building Society, which contributed £420, and Councillor Andrew Lewer who presented the club with a cheque for £500 from the Derbyshire County Council Members’ Community Leadership Scheme.

Nick Webster, who chairs the Ground Development Committee at the club, said: “The redevelopment of the ground is a long-term project for us, but it is good to be able to report progress with the purchase of new covers.

“In addition, we have been able to access funding for additional sightscreens and for a new square mower.  We’re most grateful to all donors, and particularly to Councillor Lewer for his generous contribution from the Community Leadership Scheme.”
