Derby Wheelblazers hosts action-packed weekend of wheelchair basketball

Derby Wheelblazers hosted an action-packed weekend of wheelchair basketball in memory of one of the members of its junior team, who died in 2008.

The Josh Ginns Memorial Weekend charity fundraiser was held at Moorways Sport centre in Derby, on Saturday, August 7 and Sunday, August 8, and was supported by Derbyshire Sport and Championing Derbyshire.

Saturday saw teams from businesses and other disabled clubs across the county go head to head in a round robin tournament. The overall winners were Seated Undefeated.

On the Sunday, 12 teams from the Great Britain Wheelchair Basketball League competed in a round robin competition, with the Josh Ginns Memorial Trophy won by the Bury Blue Devils.

The event raised around £2,000. It was organised in memory of Josh Ginns, one of the founding members of the Wheelblazers Youth Team, who was just ten years old when he died.
