A £20,000 facelift includes a new macadam surface with coloured court markings, drainage, new tennis posts and nets and repairs to fencing.

The improvements to the tennis courts were funded from a £10,000 grant from Viridor Credits, with the remainder funded by Chesterfield Borough Council.

The tennis courts are available to the general public for casual usage and also host Queen's Park Tennis Club.

Cllr David Stone, Lead Member for Safe, Healthy and Active Communities, said: "Tennis is a very popular sport so we’re pleased we’ve been able to provide funding to improve the Courts.

"We hope existing and new users will enjoy playing tennis at Queen’s Park and who knows there may be a new Andy Murray in the making!”
