Young people invited to apply for funding to set up volunteer-led projects inspired by 2012

23 April 2010

v, the youth volunteering charity, is inviting young people aged 16 to 25 to apply for funding to set up small volunteer-led projects in England that are inspired by the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Young people can apply for a grant of up to £2,500 as part of vcashpoint, a youth-led initiative which aims to inspire youth volunteering.

Grants are available for projects that clearly benefit a chosen community and fit within v's five themes for the 2012 Games: sport, culture, environment, health and education.

Applicants must also demonstrate how their project reflects at least one of the seven values of the Olympic and Paralympic Games: respect, excellence, friendship, courage, determination, inspiration and equality.

Successful applicants may also be considered by the London 2012 Organising Committee to carry the London 2012 Inspire mark which officially recognises their project as part of the 2012 Games.

The deadlines for the next two rounds of applications are May 10 and September 6.
