Organised by Sporting Futures, the 10k race began and finished at Pride Park Stadium, also taking in Derby city centre, and saw more than 3,500 runners complete the course.
Included were 70 teams who took part in the Cooper Parry Business Team Challenge, which was won by PWC Elites.
In second place was team Christopher Jones1, and in third place was Well Oiled Machine.
The Team Challenge, which was also supported by the Derbyshire Management Group for the 2012 Games in partnership with the East Midlands Development Agency (emda), was open to workforces across Derbyshire, with the aim of encouraging work colleagues to become more active and enjoy a healthy lifestyle together.
A record 500 people signed up to the Team Challenge, with 70 teams of between four and ten competing in the race, and the top four individual 10k finish places from each team counted towards the result.
In the individual 10k race, the winner was Alex Pilcher from Derby AC with a time of 30m 39s, with Andrew Ward from Clowne Road Runners in second place and David Westbury from Derby AC in third place. The first woman to finish was Sarah Harris from Long Eaton Running Club with a time of 35m 16s, followed by Lisa Palmer from Heanor Running Club in second and Tamara Armoush from Amber Valley AC in third.
The event also saw 35 Jog Derbyshire members and Jog Leaders run the 10k.
Joggers and leaders from Barlborough Gentle Joggers, Etwall Leisure Centre, The Trotters from Derby, Rutland Sports Park, Sandiacre Friesland Sports Centre, Swanwick Joggers and Ripley and South Normanton Striders took part, and first home was leader Luke James, in 39m 4s.
Most of the Jog Derbyshire members completed the distance in under one hour, and enjoyed additional hospitality including free gifts from Lucozade, Asics and Running Free magazine as part of Jog Derbyshire’s first Club Jog event.
Following the main race, around 1,000 people completed the Family Fun Run.
The entire event was organised by Sporting Futures, which uses sport to reach out to young people and help them gain life skills and communicate better with those around them.
