Sam Cook (18) of Woodlands School and Billy Fields (18) of Bilborough College, who both row for Derby Rowing Club, have formed a composite crew with Burton Leander RC’s Alex Ganley (17) and Michael Jones (17) both of Abbot Beyne School.
They qualified to gain an entry to the Fawley Challenge Cup for under-18 quadruple sculls, beating competition from 21 others to gain one of the remaining nine places to go into the draw, joining the 15 seeded crews having an automatic entry.
The regatta began on Wednesday, July 1, with the finals held on Sunday, July 5.
The crew were due to compete in their first race today (July 2) against Walton RC & Tideway Scullers, with the winners facing the Australian composite of Melbourne University & Barwon RC in the next round.
