Derby triathlete Tom Bishop retained his Senior Boys title at the East Midlands Airport Derbyshire Schools’ Cross Country Championships, during a busy afternoon of racing at Mount St Mary's College in Spinkhill, North Derbyshire.
Four rising sports stars from Bolsover district have been given a helping hand in their bid to reach the top, with a bursary of £300 each from the Derbyshire Talented Athlete Fund.
Teams from Chellaston School and Woodlands School came out on top at the year seven Derby City Sportshall Athletics Championships, held at Moorways Sports Centre.
Ben Ainslie CBE has kindly agreed to the naming of the Derbyshire Youth Sailing intermediate age group, series championship trophy, as the Ben Ainslie Trophy. Ben Ainslie, the Multiple Olympic and World Champion dinghy sailor was named for a record breaking third time as the ISAF Rolex World Sailor of The Year 2008 as well as being a finalist in the BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards and receiving a CBE in the 2009 New Year’s Honours list.
Workmates who want to get fit and tackle a challenge as a team, whilst raising money for a Derbyshire charity at the same time, are being sought to take part in this year’s Championing Derbyshire Corporate Team Challenge.
