New boccia club in Amber Valley

20 February 2009

A new boccia club has been set up in Amber Valley, with the first session due to be held on Monday 23 February 2009.

Boccia is a fun, inclusive sport for all abilities, and no previous experience is needed to join the club.

Sessions will be held every Monday from 6pm to 7pm at Swanwick School and Sports College, and cost £1.

The sessions are open to anyone aged eight to 25.

For more information contact Nicola Green on 01332 204434 or Nicola.green@umbrella.uk.net

Boccia is played from a seated position, and the aim of the game is to propel a set of coloured balls and position them closer to a white 'marker' ball than those of your opponent, similar to Bowls.

The game can be played either individually, in pairs or as a team.
