Disabled young people aged 17 and 18 can now swim for free at Derbyshire leisure centres thanks to funding secured through Derbyshire County Council’s Aiming High programme and a partnership with the District and Borough Councils.

When Ruth Hewitt left school she was unfit and slightly overweight, but after taking up jogging she has gradually got slimmer – and fitter – and is now preparing to run her second marathon.
